Happy Fourth of July

Look at that cute smile. Brad took this on the morning of the Fourth. If you look closely, you can see he's wearing his patriotic pajamas. We were lucky enough to be able to head down to Cedar City for part of the weekend to visit Daylen and Ashley. It was their first time meeting Johnny, and we were excited to visit with them since we hadn't seen them for a few months. Ashley was so sweet and a wonderful hostess even though she was 9 months pregnant and anxious for Brooks to make his grand arrival.

Here's Johnny's first picture with his cousin Brooks. Granted he's still in Ashley, but technically they're next to each other. Thanks Daylen and Ashley for letting us stay with you. We had so much fun!

Road Trips

Johnny is now quite the seasoned traveler. In his short 10 weeks of life, he has already been in three different states. In two weeks, we'll make that four. He's done great on all of our car rides, needing just a few stops and with no crying. We're crossing our fingers that this trend of a happy quiet baby will continue when we take him on his first plane ride in August.

The first trip we took our handsome little guy on was in June during Brad's break between Spring and Summer terms at school. We decided to take advantage of his few days off and head out to visit my Grandma and family out in Colorado. He was only 5 weeks old and I was slightly nervous about the 8 hour car ride, but he was such a trooper. Here he is on our way there:




I was so happy to be able to see some of my aunts, uncles, and cousins. Here's Brad and Johnny with my cousins Hannah, Cecilia, and Camille.


Even though Cecilia liked holding the baby, I don't think anyone was as excited to hold him, or as enthusiastic about helping out with Johnny, as Camille was. She was always there to put his pacifier in at a moment's notice. She looks so pleased in this picture to be holding the baby.

Here's my Grandma with her second newest Great-Grandson. (My sister had her baby the day we drove out there) I was happy that she could meet him and give me such great advice on being a new mom.

It was such a fun trip, and I'm so happy that we had such a great time. Thanks Brad for driving the whole way there and back. You're the best!

What a Lovely Day

Even though we are currently without Internet access (I know Fran, it's rough) Brad has still convinced me to start a blog. He's had one for a few weeks now, and has been faithfully writing on it for his English class. This blog is supposed to be more personal, as in posting about the exciting moments in our family's life. As of right now, our precious Baby Johnny, as my niece Emma affectionately calls him, is pretty much the most exciting thing we've got going for us. Johnny is now just over 9 weeks old and his favorite things include: eating, going for walks, smiling, taking naps with Mom and Dad, and wiggling. He's also working hard at learning to say "hi" according to Brad. We love him very much and can't even believe how much he has grown in just these past two months.
